OUR FOUNDERS’ STORY and VISION

Patricia Alvarado Núñez and Alan Catello Grazioso have been collaborating since 2000. At the start, Patricia and Alan co-produced a series of segments for the PBS Kids series ZOOM in Panamá, Canada, Italy, and across the United States. The series went on to win a Daytime Emmy® in 2006. Their collaboration has evolved into a creative media studio that consults and incubates innovative, visually-driven, meaningful media for small and large screens. The Studio experiments with different storytelling methods using video, audio, 2D and 3D animation, photography, and other art mediums in conjunction with technology.

Studio 21 is Patricia and Alan’s vision of bringing together a unique mix of global talent they’ve discovered over the years while adding multicultural perspectives to each idea and project the collective develops or consults.

Alan is the company's head of creative with expertise in client relations, multimedia development, animation production, post-production, and innovation. Patricia is the CEO of the Studio and oversees the content development and production for digital, social, and broadcast. Alan and Patricia serve as executive producers on projects they lead.

Patricia and Alan have traveled worldwide, visited 35 countries, and filmed at more than 320 locations on five continents. And led international creative teams in producing novel cross-cultural and multilingual content for top-tier organizations, including Oxfam International, WGBH Educational Foundation, Travel Channel, and Harvard University. They have delivered projects in more than ten languages.

Our cofounders are committed to helping organizations tell factual stories that raise awareness of social, environmental, and cultural issues. Over the past two decades, they’ve forged content partnerships with television networks, production teams, publishers, higher education institutions, advertising agencies, NGOs, governmental agencies, corporations, leading brands, and talent agencies, and they aim to leverage these relationships for the Studio.

Their work has been broadcast on HBO, PBS, CBS, ESPN, National Geographic, AJ+, and the History Channel. Honors include an Imagen Award, two Webbys, two Tellys, two Golden Eagles, and six Emmys. Even some of their content has gone viral, with more than 6 million YouTube views (twice).

As Patricia says, “Studio 21 creates mission-based multimedia that makes a difference.”
